Student racing team on the road to success with UNICRAFT workshop trolley

For six years now, the Strohm und Söhne racing team from the Technical University of Nuremberg has been participating with great success in the world's largest design competition Formula Student. Now, Stürmer Maschinen is supporting the research activities of the students with a workshop trolley from UNICRAFT, which was made available to the team at discounted conditions and will in the future be used to transport the accumulator during the events.

Formula Student is an international competition in which student racing teams develop an innovative formula racing car according to predefined rules and then compete with other universities on the world's racetracks.

With the NoRa7 racing car, the Strohm und Söhne team is currently in the project phase for the seventh generation of its racing car. The goal is to participate in various European events in the summer of 2021 in order to continue the successful course of the past years. Particular attention is being paid to the race car's weighty battery, which has to be moved safely and comfortably across the event terrain at all times on the international race tracks in Germany, Austria and Italy. The Nuremberg racing team was therefore looking for a mobile lift trolley that was easy to operate and maneuverable even with heavy loads.

After the students of the Technical University of Nuremberg had dealt extensively with the topic of workshop trolleys, they finally decided on the FHT 500 scissor lift table trolley from UNICRAFT, which absolutely convinced them with its functionalities. Thanks to its robust steel construction, the workshop trolley is extremely stable and can carry loads of up to 500 kg. A hydraulic lifting device operated by a foot lever enables the table surface to be lifted effortlessly. The castors with the integrated safety wheel protection as well as the safety brakes on the swivel castors prevent rolling away and guarantee safe transport of the load at all times.

The research team did not miss the opportunity to send a representative to the Stürmer training and demonstration centre in Hallstadt to personally receive the workshop trolley. In the coming months, the interdisciplinary team of 40 students will be working at full speed on the development of an innovative, electric racing car that will face international competition in the summer of 2021. Until then, there is still some construction work to be done. Safe transport of the sensitive accumulator, however,  is already guaranteed by the FHT 500 workshop trolley from UNICRAFT.
