Dry walls with Unicraft's LEF dehumidifiers

The right balance of temperature and humidity in the interior is not only essential for the preservation of the building fabric. The indoor air can also have an impact on our well-being. Because air that is too humid favours mold growth, which in turn can have health consequences. To prevent this from happening in the first place, dehumidifiers are used which prevent the formation of condensation so that mould has no breeding ground. With the new LEF dehumidifiers from Unicraft, you can dry buildings and damp rooms in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient way.

Causes of excessive humidity

Excessive humidity in rooms can have many causes. Above all, less heated rooms, such as cellars, storage rooms, archives or laboratories, are at risk, since cold air absorbs less water vapor than warm air. Condensation quickly forms on cold outside walls. If wet areas on the walls cannot be dried in time, mold has an easy time. But thermal bridges can also occur in old buildings or structures with poorly insulated exterior walls. In addition, new buildings have a high level of humidity, as large amounts of water are needed for setting during the production of concrete, mortar and plaster. Last but not least, rooms with a high amount of water vapor, such as swimming pools or rooms with existing water damage, must be carefully examined. During a dehumidification process, the room air should ideally be exchanged 1-2 times per hour. The decisive factors here are the room air volume and the air flow rate of the dehumidifier, which is specified in cubic metres per hour (m³/h).

LEF series uses environmentally friendly refrigerant R290

The new LEF 51 S, LEF 71 S and LEF 91 S dehumidifiers work with the environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant and have an air flow rate of 600 m³ / h, 700 m³ / h or 850 m³ / h, depending on the respective model. The dehumidification process is based on the principle of a compression refrigeration machine, i.e. the warm humid air is sucked in by a fan and led to the evaporator, where the humidity finally condenses. The refrigerant R290 that evaporates during this process is the hydrocarbon molecule propane. This replaces CFC-based refrigerants and is therefore an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient alternative. In contrast to CFC, propane has no negative effects on the ozone layer and, as a refrigerant, also has advantages in terms of thermodynamics and condensation point.

Reliable dehumidification through temperature and defrost control

A big plus of the new LEF dehumidifiers from Unicraft is the integrated temperature and defrost control. This prevents the dehumidification performance from dropping or the system from failing. This is because during the dehumidification process, temperatures near the freezing point occur, which can easily cause the evaporator to ice up and thus impair its functionality. The automatic defrost control counteracts this process and ensures reliable functioning of the dehumidifier even during continuous use. An automatic condensate drain makes the manual emptying of a condensate container obsolete, as the condensate is automatically drained outside at regular intervals via a drine line. Thanks to the wheeled housing, the dehumidifiers are also mobile and can be placed where they are needed. A removable, washable filter enables use even in dusty environments.  A low noise level ensures that the dehumidifiers can even be used in living space without hesitation.

Take precautions and prevent your walls from getting humid and damp! Once mold has started to develop, it can hardly be stopped from spreading. Moisture and mold can then not only damage furniture, stored materials and electrical installations, they also pose a risk to your health. With the new LEF dehumidifiers from Unicraft, you can ensure optimal room air and a permanently healthy living and working environment at all times.
